How to play Highway Rider
Your bike rides down a four-lane highway full of cars, trucks and buses. It picks up speed on its own, so your job is to steer between them. Touch a vehicle and you crash. Pass one close, with only a sliver of road between you, and it counts as a near miss: it scores points and refills some nitro. Near misses in quick succession build a combo of up to five times.
Watch for blinking indicators, because drivers change lanes. Nitro gives a burst of top speed while the tank lasts and makes near misses worth more. On a two-way road, the oncoming lanes score double, but the traffic there is coming straight at you.
Career, Endless and Time attack
The career is 30 missions: ride a set distance, pull off a number of near misses or overtakes, fire nitro a few times, ride in the oncoming lanes, reach a score or escape the police, some of them against the clock. Roads run by day, at sunset, at night and in the rain, where the bike grips less. Clearing missions opens the Desert and Neon City roads.
Endless keeps going until you crash, with traffic getting heavier the farther you ride. After a while a police car comes up behind you. Block it with traffic, dodge its lunges or burn nitro to get away for a big bonus. Time attack starts with 60 seconds and adds 20 more every 1.5 km. Every ride earns coins to spend on five bikes, from the Zip 125 scooter to the Phantom X.
Tips and tricks
- Save nitro for an open stretch. A boost into a wall of traffic usually ends the run.
- Keep chaining near misses. Each one tops up the nitro tank, so close riding pays for the next boost.
- In the rain the bike slides more and brakes later, so leave more room before a lane change.
- You can watch a short ad to start a ride with a full nitro tank, to keep riding once after a crash, or to double the coins from a cleared mission. Skip it and you get nothing, but the button stays so you can try again.
