Controls

Steer with the Left and Right arrows or A and D; the car accelerates by itself. Brake with the Down arrow or S. On touch screens, hold the left or right half of the screen to steer, or both halves to brake. P or Esc pauses.

How to play Ghost Lap

Your car speeds around a glowing neon track all by itself, so all you do is steer and brake. Finish a lap and the run you just drove turns into a ghost that replays that exact lap from the start line, every lap after that.

Touch a ghost and you crash. Each lap adds one more ghost to the track, so the road gets busier and you have to keep finding a new line. Your score is the number of laps you survive.

Ghosts, timer and tracks

A lap timer counts down at the top of the screen and it gets a little tighter with every lap. Run out of time and the run ends, so you cannot just creep around the outside forever. Driving off the edge of the road slows the car down.

There are five tracks: Neon Oval, Kidney Bean, Hairpin Heights, Figure Eight and Serpent. Only the Oval is open at first; survive 3, 6, 9 and 12 laps to unlock the others. Once you have unlocked a second track you can pick your track at the start of a session, and each track keeps its own best lap count.

Tips and tricks

• Watch the faint lines on the track: they show where the ghosts are about to drive.
• Drive a different racing line each lap. Ghosts only hurt you when you cross their path at the same moment.
• A brand-new ghost is see-through for a moment and cannot hurt you until it has pulled away from your car.
• Do not brake more than you need to, because the lap timer keeps running.
• After a crash you can watch a short ad once per run: erase the ghost that hit you, or add 5 seconds if you ran out of time.
