Controls

Drive with the Up arrow or W, steer with the Left and Right arrows or A and D, brake or reverse with the Down arrow or S, and hold Space to drift and leave tire marks. On touch screens, drag anywhere to drive toward your finger and hold the DRIFT button to paint. P or Esc pauses.

How to play Drift Painter

Every level shows a dotted shape on an empty asphalt lot, and your job is to draw it with tire marks before the timer runs out. The clock starts the moment you first move.

Only drifting leaves marks. Hold Space (or the DRIFT button) to pull the handbrake and slide the car through the shape. Dots turn green as your marks cover them, and the meter at the top shows how much of the shape you have traced.

Stars and levels

There are 14 shapes: Big Circle, Oval Track, Rounded Square, Figure Eight, Heart, Triangle, Flower, Olympic Pair, Letter S, Star, Wave, Spiral, Say GO and Zig Zag. Each one has three star marks on the meter, and the star marks are a little different on every level.

Marks outside the shape cost you points, so a messy trace scores lower than a clean one. Reach the third star and the level ends at once. Otherwise, when time is up, you can finish with what you earned as long as you have at least one star. Each finished level unlocks the next one, and you can revisit any unlocked level from the pause menu.

Tips and tricks

• Build up speed first, then drift. A slow car does not leave a mark.
• Take the shape in one smooth slide where you can, and stay off the empty asphalt around it to avoid the mess penalty.
• Steer gently while drifting. Big corrections make wobbly lines.
• Hitting the edge of the lot bounces the car and knocks off speed, so keep clear of the edges.
• When the timer runs out you can watch a short ad once per level to add 10 seconds and keep painting.
