Controls
Drag one of the three blocks from the tray onto the board. The block floats a little above your finger so you can see where it will land. The Undo button sits above the board. Keys: 1, 2 or 3 pick a block, Tab switches to the next block, arrows move it, Enter or Space places it, U undoes. P or Esc pauses.
How to play Block Fit
The tray holds three blocks. Drag each one onto the 8x8 board wherever it fits. Blocks cannot be turned, so each shape goes down the way it comes. When all three are placed, a new set of three arrives.
Fill a whole row or a whole column and it clears. Clearing several lines with one block scores far more than clearing them one at a time. Clear again within three moves and your combo multiplier keeps climbing, and clearing the whole board pays a bonus. There is no timer. The game ends only when none of the blocks in the tray fit anywhere on the board.
Stages and special gems
The more lines you clear, the further you go through the stages, and each one gives the board a new color theme. From the second stage some blocks carry a special gem. A star gem adds bonus points when its line clears. A bomb gem also blasts the 3x3 area around it. An ice block needs two clears, the first only cracks it. An x2 gem doubles the points of the clear it is part of.
Gems arrive one type at a time, so you learn each before the next appears. After the last new gem the stages keep coming, and the themes cycle.
Tips and tricks
- Keep an open area big enough for the five-cell bars and the 3x3 square. They are the hardest pieces to fit late in a game.
- Build toward lines that cross. One block that finishes a row and a column clears both.
- Place a bomb gem in a crowded corner. Its blast clears blocks a normal line would miss.
- Once per game you can watch a short ad to undo your last move, and when you run out of room another can clear a 3x3 area so you can carry on. Skip it and you get nothing, but the button stays so you can try again.
FAQ
Is Block Fit free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Drag a block with your finger. It floats above your fingertip so your hand does not hide where it lands.
Can I rotate the blocks?
No. Each block goes on the board the way it is shown in the tray. Plan around the shapes you have, and keep space for the awkward ones.
Is my progress saved?
