Tap or click the bee at the front of a line to send it to a free slot. The buttons under the board restart the level, buy Fast bees and open the lucky wheel, and the speaker button at the top turns the sound on or off. There are no keyboard controls.
How to play Bee Bites
Each level is a pixel picture laid over a honeycomb. Below it is a row of slots, and below that lines of colored bees wait their turn. Tap the bee at the front of a line and it flies to a free slot. Its worker bees then fly out and carry off pixels of the same color, but only pixels on the outer edge of what is left, so the picture is eaten from the outside in.
The number on a bee is how many pixels it still needs. At 0 it flies away and frees its slot. A bee whose color is still buried under other colors sits in its slot with a red mark and waits. If every slot is taken by bees that cannot reach their color, or no bee can be moved, the hive jams. Eat every pixel to finish the picture.
50 pictures, mystery bees and honey locks
There are 50 pictures, from a 12 by 12 heart to a 26 by 26 volcano island. The first levels have three lines of bees, then four, and up to five from level 11. From level 11 some bees waiting in line are mystery bees that hide their color behind a question mark until they reach the front. From level 21 the hive has four slots instead of five. From level 31 one line is stuck in honey and opens on its own once you have cleared a set share of the picture, and from level 41 two lines are locked and open at different times.
Every bee line is built from a worked solution, so each picture can be finished. After level 50 the game carries on in endless mode, with the pictures coming back in new layouts at the hardest settings. Each finished picture pays 5 coins, 2 more if the hive never jammed, and every tenth level adds a 25 coin chest.
Tips and tricks
- Before each tap, check which colors are on the outer edge of the picture. A bee that can reach its color starts eating at once, while one whose color is buried just takes up a slot.
- Keep a slot free when you can. It leaves room for a bee that has to wait and makes a jam much less likely.
- Coins buy Fast bees for 10, which doubles the bees' speed until the end of the level, or one more slot for 50 when the hive jams, up to three extra slots per level. The daily gift grows each day in a row you come back, and the lucky wheel has one free spin a day.
- You can watch a short ad for one more slot after a jam, or to melt the honey when locked bees are the problem, for 5 extra coins after a picture, for Fast bees, to triple the daily gift or for a second wheel spin each day. Skip it and you get nothing, but the button stays so you can try again.
FAQ
Is Bee Bites free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap the bees with a finger. The game is laid out for a phone held upright, and no keyboard is needed.
What happens when the hive jams?
The level stops. You can add one more slot with 50 coins or a short ad and carry on from where you were, up to three extra slots per level. If the bees you need are stuck in honey, the same buttons melt the honey instead. You can also start the picture over.
Is my progress saved?
Your level, your coins, your sound setting and your daily gift and lucky wheel days are saved in your browser on this device. A picture in progress is not saved, so it starts from the beginning when you come back.
