Controls

Swipe up from the ball toward the hoop with a finger or the mouse. The direction of the swipe aims the shot and its speed sets the distance. Keys: hold Space to charge and release to shoot, Left and Right arrows or A and D nudge the aim. P or Esc pauses.

How to play Hoop Shot

Swipe up from the ball toward the hoop. A faster swipe throws further, so a long shot needs a quick flick and a short one a gentle one. The ball can bounce off the rim or the backboard and still drop in. A basket is worth 2 points and a clean swish that touches nothing but the net is worth 3.

Make three swishes in a row and the ball catches fire. In fire mode every basket scores double until you miss. Some challenges have money balls: a gold ball that is worth double points on its own, and even more if you are on fire.

Career challenges and the endless shootout

The career has 20 challenges of 60 seconds each, and winning one opens the next. Most ask for a points total, while others ask for a number of swishes, bank shots off the glass, five baskets in a row or simply catching fire. The shooting spot can change after every shot, and the hoop starts to slide from side to side. The last seven challenges, the Street Tour, add wind that you read from the flag on the backboard, money balls and a hoop that rolls toward you and away.

A challenge cleared with 25 seconds or more to spare earns three stars, and with 10 or more earns two. The endless shootout also starts at 60 seconds, but every basket adds two more, so a good run can go on for a long time.

Tips and tricks

• Find the swipe speed for each spot and repeat it. The same flick from the same place lands in the same place.
• On a moving hoop, shoot when it is heading toward the middle, not when it is at the end of its swing.
• In the wind, aim to the side the flag is blowing from and let the wind carry the ball back.
• When the clock runs out you can watch a short ad for 10 more seconds. Skip it and you get nothing, but the button stays so you can try again.
