Do you love video games? If so, you should be happy to know that it's possible to be a huge gamer and still live a successful life, unlike what your mother used to tell you. Just ask some of the biggest stars in Hollywood! Even Michael Phelps managed to win 28 Olympic gold medals while playing "Call of Duty" for hours.
If these superstars can reconcile their love for video games with a busy work schedule, so can you. Below, you can find everything about the best celebrity gamers and get to know their favorite video games.
Daniel Craig: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
The Cheshire-born actor Daniel Craig made a name for himself by portraying the iconic character of James Bond on the big screen. A bonafide action-flick favorite, he loves to keep the action going whenever he has some time to relax. His favorite video game? The now-classic "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City."
Set in a fictional version of Miami, "Vice City" is a beautifully-designed but pretty violent game in which the player can run over pedestrians, assassinate gang members, and even drive a tank through the city center! Admittedly, Craig said he could only play it for a few minutes before feeling dirty.
Drake: Fortnite
The recording studio has been kind to the Canadian rapper Drake, one of the most successful chart-toppers of the last 20 years. But the studio is more than a place to work. Drake also knows how to have fun, and he reportedly loves to play the battle-royale video game "Fortnite" with his friends in between takes.
A fun and colorful video game, "Fortnite" is beloved by children and grown-ups alike, and even the mighty Drake seems to be a big fan. It goes to show that we're all kids in the end, no matter how old we are or how many number-one hits we have!
Michelle Rodriguez: Doom
The "F9" superstar Michelle Rodriguez is a big fan of first-person shooter (FPS) video games, and she's even into one of the ultimate classics of the genre. Back when 3D video games were still a novelty, the violent "Doom" made it to thousands of households in and outside of the United States. Rodriguez's was no exception!
After being introduced to the monster-killing vintage masterpiece "Doom," Rodriguez started playing other FPS video games. Rodriguez's fellow co-star Vin Diesel is also a big gamer, and he loves "Dungeons and Dragons" and the "Call of Duty" series.
Mila Kunis: World of Warcraft
The online role-playing game (RPG) "World of Warcraft" is not something to mess with! It's so addictive that it was even blamed for some deaths! Featuring 5.5 million lines of code and a map so big it would have 861 square feet in real-life, this titanically-popular title has also caught the eye of the "Family Guy" superstar Mila Kunis.
Naturally, Kunis, too, was unable to resist the many appeals of "World of Warcraft" and spent hours playing it in front of her computer. Luckily, she managed to overcome her "WoW" addiction and returned to being one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses.
Michael Phelps: Call of Duty
The American former swimmer Michael Phelps made history by becoming the most decorated Olympian of all time. But while landing a whopping 28 medals at the highest possible level takes a lot of training and hard work, Phelps managed to find the time to play "Call of Duty" for hours pretty much every day.
It's fair to say that, outside of the swimming pool, Phelps spent much of his life playing "Call of Duty!" Proving that gamers can be athletes, too, the Olympian reportedly spent about 30 hours per week in front of the screen.
Brie Larson: Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The "Captain Marvel" superstar Brie Larson is a well-known gamer with a special love for light video games titles such as "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and "Super Mario World 3D." She's also into the highly addictive "Animal Crossing: New Horizons," which she was seen playing in a Nintendo Switch commercial.
Larson's love for Nintendo video games isn't just for show, and she's often seen playing or talking about video games on her YouTube channel. "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" is a social simulation game featuring anthropomorphic animals first released in 2020.
Rosario Dawson: Pokémon
The American actress Rosario Dawson was born in 1979, but she was nonetheless unable to resist the charm of the original "Pokémon" video games. As any young adult born in the late '80s or early '90s would know, "Pokémon" is the game you turn to whenever you need a particular fix of nostalgia.
But Dawson's involvement with video games doesn't stop with "Pokémon." The "Dopesick" star was also featured in the video game-inspired movie "Ratchet & Clank" and included as a playable female character in "Call of Duty: Black Ops III."
Will Arnett - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
There's no doubt that the "Call of Duty" series is a favorite among celebrities. The "Arrested Development" actor Will Arnett is yet another big "Call of Duty" fan. He was seen playing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" online with his buddies Jason Bateman (from "Ozark") and Jerry O'Connell (known for the TV series "Billions").
Also known for his terrific voice work in "BoJack Horseman," Arnett's characteristically-deep voice is yet to star in a video game. However, this Ontario native once hosted a show called "Game Chat" for Xbox, in which he played video games with fellow comedians.
Henry Cavill: World of Warcraft
The "Man of Steel" actor Henry Cavill is making all his boyhood dreams come true. He was not only cast to portray the iconic Superman on the big screen, but he was also chosen to be the star of the hit Netflix series "The Witcher." Inspired by the same-titled video game, "The Witcher" is the kind of show that should please any fan of high fantasy.
And for all we know, Cavill himself is a big fantasy aficionado. After all, he's reported to be an avid "World of Warcraft" player, and some sources even stated that the RPG game inspired his portrayal of Superman.
Zac Efron: Halo 3
From teen star to bonafide Hollywood hunk, the American actor Zac Efron is living proof that gamers can be popular with the ladies too. The blue-eyed Californian did more than work on his rock-solid abs while growing up: he also played a ton of "Halo." A big fan of the video game, he even attended a Los Angeles "Halo 3" launch party when he was 20 years old!
Predictably, Efron's presence was great for promoting the video game. There are many celebrity gamers out there, but we never expected Efron to be such a "Halo" fanboy.
